About

Steve Jobs was an American business magnate, industrial designer, investor, and media proprietor who fundamentally transformed the personal computer, animated film, music, phone, tablet, and digital publishing industries. He was the co-founder, chairman, and CEO of Apple Inc., as well as the founder of NeXT and chairman and majority shareholder of Pixar Animation Studios. Born in San Francisco, California, and adopted at birth, Jobs grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area. He briefly attended Reed College before dropping out to pursue alternative spiritual paths, including a journey to India in 1974 to study Zen Buddhism.

In 1976, Jobs co-founded Apple Computer with Steve Wozniak in his family garage. The pair revolutionized the computing industry with the Apple II and later the Macintosh, which introduced graphical user interfaces to the consumer market. Following a power struggle with Apple's board of directors in 1985, Jobs departed the company and founded NeXT, a workstation computer enterprise. In 1986, he funded the spinout of Lucasfilm's computer graphics division, creating Pixar, which produced the first computer-animated feature film, Toy Story.

Apple acquired NeXT in 1997, bringing Jobs back as CEO. Under his visionary leadership, Apple staged one of the greatest corporate turnarounds in history, launching groundbreaking consumer electronics such as the iMac, iPod, iTunes Store, iPhone, and iPad. Recognized for his demanding perfectionism and legendary keynote presentations, Jobs redefined modern consumer technology before his death from pancreatic cancer in 2011.
