About
Glenn McGrath is one of the most highly regarded fast bowlers in the history of international cricket. Born in Dubbo, New South Wales, McGrath debuted for the Australian national team in 1993 and quickly established himself as a cornerstone of the dominant Australian side of the late 1990s and early 2000s. Known for his exceptional accuracy, relentless line and length, and ability to extract bounce, he amassed 563 Test wickets and 381 One Day International wickets over a stellar career spanning fourteen years. His partnership with spin legend Shane Warne spearheaded Australia's bowling attack during an era of unprecedented global dominance, helping the nation secure three consecutive ICC Cricket World Cup titles in 1999, 2003, and 2007. McGrath retired from international cricket after the 2007 World Cup, where he was named the Player of the Tournament. Beyond his achievements on the pitch, McGrath is deeply respected for his philanthropic work. Following his first wife Jane's diagnosis and eventual passing from breast cancer, they co-founded the McGrath Foundation in 2005. The foundation has since raised millions of dollars to fund breast care nurses across Australia and raise breast health awareness. In recognition of his sporting achievements and charity work, McGrath was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia in 2008 and inducted into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame in 2013.
